Elders bring their whole soul, body and mind into each activity. Meaningful programs are those interventions oriented to stimulate their cognition, increase or maintain self-esteem, social integration, creativity, motor coordination, memory, vocational and intellectual aspect of the whole person... This process is also known as 'whole person-center wellness approach' when a crafted and invidual life style is developed by the therapist, other interdisciplinary team members and the elder receiving the services. We also discussed the value of individual assessments and global community assessments to combine the existing resources of a 'community of place' and to develop 'various communities of interests'...

How to manage people and resources effectively to build TOGETHER a meaningful recreation and leisure program that contributes to a never-ending quality improvement COMMUNITY process? A whole-person centered wellness program will help tremendously to better treat physical and mental illnesses and to improve the quality of life of all its community members; patients, staff, volunteers, caregivers, vendors, nature and animals.

A discussion group about: Unique periodic home and program assessments - provide reviews of all the services available for elders. How to improve nutrition, spirituality, psychosocial needs, physical, intellectual, emotional and recreational aspects of each elder in the community. Life satisfaction and self-perceived health status and functionality of each elder are considered in the assessments. WEL, WORLD ELDER LAND assessments also explore suggestions of better ways from elders, staff, families and others involved with the home or program.
