The purposes of these world events are; to promote and facilitate programs for our elders,
all over the world, to get actively involve in our communities, foster meaningful
intergenerational interactions & stimulate creativity.


World Environment Day, commemorated each year on 5 June, 
is one of the principal vehicles through which the United Nations
that stimulates worldwide awareness of the environment and
enhances political attention and action

To celebrate and promote World Environment Day, WEL, World Elder Land
has teamed up with the UNEP with the hope of inspiring and helping as 
many elder communities as possible to actively participate in the betterment
of our planet earth and environment. This is a people's event and a 
community project that promotes better ways toward environmental issues,
whole-person living, to ensure all people enjoy a safer better present 
and future life.

This year 2007 We are inviting all elders of the world 
to create  an inspirational postcard with a message
 
“THE ENVIRONMENT: MY EXTENDED BODY”  
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO BETTER THE ENVIRONMENT?

Please use biodegradable or environmental green products to create
your post-card.  Please send us information about the materials
that were used in the composition, along with your information.

Agencies are welcome to register meaningful projects with elders

WEL will acknowledge the work and message of our elders with a photo collage that will 
be sent to the UNEP World Environment Day, June 2007

World Elder Peace Week. WEL, World Elder Land joins the 
worldwide movement to facilitate a global ceasefire and a 
week of community-based peace events and non-violence, 
for the evolution of humanity toward a better and more 
peaceful world for everyone.

International Day For Peace - September 21

The Culture of Peace Initiative (formerly "We The Peoples" Initiative)
originated in 1983 as a program of Pathways To Peace 
by Avon Mattison, Founder and President, and Robert Muller, then 
Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations. It is a co-operative 
movement to unite the strengths of existing organizations and projects 
toward making Peace a practical reality in the 21st century. 
The annual highlight of this Initiative is the International Day of Peace
(Peace Day), which is celebrated worldwide on September 21.
